Becoming A Memorable Communicator

About me

I have been in vocational ministry for over 20 years, I have a Masters in Contemporary Theology and Philosophy (a large focus was in reading and analyzing the trends in thought/belief/commitment for the current age), and I have a PhD in Theology from the University of Nottingham. where my work focused on environmental philosophy, the doctrine of creation, and understanding how the stories we tell shape the way we view the world. I am an enneagram certified coach and am working towards certification in spiritual direction.

I lead a large, historic, and rather traditional congregation in Midtown Atlanta. During my tenure there, I have led through a pandemic, helped build an endowment for the preservation of our historic building, served on several non-profit boards, consulted with church planters, consulted with a syndicated radio program, have closed dying organizations while helping to launch new ones. And I have received much praise for identifying and hiring superb people for important roles in the organization. Previously I served other organizations and churches in different contexts with different aims. Some of that work consisted of the following: the establishment of community gardens, public art installations, gala fundraising, community festivals, mentoring college students and young professionals.

My life is enchanted by my lovely wife, three kids, 12 chickens, two cats, one dog, and so many adventures along the way. I love to golf, fly fish, garden, hike, study martial arts and cooking. And of course, I still continue to study and write about theology, philosophy, spirituality—and tell one of my favorite stories to new audiences!
